The Singapore stock market has finished higher in nine straight sessions, gathering more than 390 points or 7.7 percent along the way. Now at a fresh record closing high, the Straits Times Index sits just beneath the 5,560-point plateau although investors may lock in gains on Thursday.

The global forecast for the Asian markets is cautiously optimistic on an improved outlook for interest rates. The European markets were mixed and the U.S. bourses were up and the Asian markets figure to split the difference.
