{"id":8894,"date":"2021-04-16T11:04:01","date_gmt":"2021-04-16T11:04:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pantheregroup.com\/2021\/04\/16\/sensex-nifty-end-marginally-higher\/"},"modified":"2021-04-16T11:04:01","modified_gmt":"2021-04-16T11:04:01","slug":"sensex-nifty-end-marginally-higher","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pantheregroup.com\/2021\/04\/16\/sensex-nifty-end-marginally-higher\/","title":{"rendered":"Sensex, Nifty End Marginally Higher"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> \n<\/p>\n<div id=\"ctl00_CPI_dvBody\">\n<p> Indian shares gave up some early gains to end slightly higher on Friday as concerns over a continued surge in Covid-19 cases offset firm global cues. <\/p>\n<p>Cues from Asia and Europe were positive as strong U.S. and Chinese economic data bolstered expectations of a solid global economic rebound.<\/p>\n<p>As India battles a second wave of the <span class=\"landLinks\">coronavirus<\/span> outbreak, the Centre has released the list of 20 states and Union Territories with the highest number of cases. <\/p>\n<p>Maharashtra topped the list followed by Kerala while Delhi was ranked sixth.<\/p>\n<p>The benchmark 30-share BSE Sensex ended up 28.35 points, or 0.06 percent, at 48,832.03, rising  for the third day running on the back of gains in information <span class=\"landLinks\">technology<\/span>, pharma and auto shares.<\/p>\n<p>The broader NSE Nifty index edged up 36.40 points, or 0.25 percent, to 14,617.85.<\/p>\n<p>Wipro shares surged as much as 9 percent after the IT services firm reported a 27.7 percent year-on-year rise in its Q4 consolidated net profit and provided a robust double-digit growth projection for the first quarter of current fiscal.<\/p>\n<p>UltraTech, Asian Paints, Cipla and Hindalco jumped 3-4 percent while Tata Steel, Larsen &amp; Toubro, Bajaj Finance, ICICI Bank and JSW Steel dropped 1-2 percent. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><script type=\"text\/javascript\">\n        window.fbAsyncInit = function () {\n            FB.init({\n                status: true,\n                cookie: true,\n                xfbml: true\n            });\n        };\n        (function (d) {\n            var js, id = 'facebook-jssdk'; if (d.getElementById(id)) { return; }\n            js = d.createElement('script'); js.id = id; js.async = true;\n            js.src = \"https:\/\/connect.facebook.net\/en_US\/all.js\";\n            d.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(js);\n        }(document));\n    <\/script><br \/>\n<br \/>\n<br \/>Sensex, Nifty End Marginally Higher<\/a><br \/>\n<br \/>2021-04-16 11:04:01<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Indian shares gave up some early gains to end slightly higher on Friday as concerns over a continued surge in Covid-19 cases offset firm global cues.
