However, employment in this sector didn\u2019t change much year over year, as August\u2019s increase offset decreases seen earlier in 2026. <\/p>\n<ul class=\"related_links\">\n<li>Economists impressed with GDP data, expect interest rates to hold<\/li>\n<li>Canada&#8217;s economy posts fastest growth in three years<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> On a year-over-year basis, the economy gained around 217,000 jobs in August, or a one per cent increase.
