{"id":61970,"date":"2025-07-16T10:25:33","date_gmt":"2025-07-16T10:25:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pantheregroup.com\/2025\/07\/16\/sensex-nifty-end-choppy-session-marginally-higher-6\/"},"modified":"2025-07-16T10:25:33","modified_gmt":"2025-07-16T10:25:33","slug":"sensex-nifty-end-choppy-session-marginally-higher-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pantheregroup.com\/2025\/07\/16\/sensex-nifty-end-choppy-session-marginally-higher-6\/","title":{"rendered":"Sensex, Nifty End Choppy Session Marginally Higher"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> \n<\/p>\n<div id=\"ctl00_CPI_dvBody\">\n<p> Indian shares recovered from an early slide to end marginally higher on Wednesday as the dollar pulled back slightly and U.S. Treasury yields retreated after rising in the previous session.<\/p>\n<p>The dollar eased slightly after rising on Tuesday as June U.S. CPI data showed early signs of tariff-linked inflation. <\/p>\n<p>Oil prices also traded lower in European trade as tariff-related worries overshadowed expectations of firm summer demand in the world&#8217;s two largest consumers, the United States and China.<\/p>\n<p>After striking a trade deal with Indonesia, U.S. President Donald Trump announced potential tariffs on imported pharmaceuticals by month&#8217;s end, followed by semiconductor levies.<\/p>\n<p>Trump also said that a trade agreement with Vietnam was nearly complete and that the United States is close to getting full trade access to India.<\/p>\n<p>India is taking a &#8220;wait and watch approach&#8221; with a senior government official telling PTI that the government will decide how to respond to the upcoming U.S. tariffs only after fully understanding their impact.<\/p>\n<p>The benchmark S&amp;P\/BSE Sensex ended a choppy session up 63.57 points, or 0.08 percent, at 82,634.48, while the broader NSE Nifty index closed at 25,212.05, up 16.25 points, or 0.06 percent, from its previous close. <\/p>\n<p>The BSE mid-cap and small-cap indexes edged up by 0.1 percent and 0.3 percent, respectively. <\/p>\n<p>The market breadth was strong on the BSE, with 2,339 shares rising while 1,719 shares declined and 160 shares closed unchanged. <\/p>\n<p>Infosys, SBI, Tech Mahindra and Mahindra &amp; Mahindra all rose around 2 percent while Tata Steel, Sun Pharma and Eternal dropped 1-2 percent. <\/p>\n<p>HDB Financial Services lost 3.1 percent on reporting a marginal decline in its first-quarter net profit.<\/p>\n<p>Just Dial plunged 5 percent despite reporting 13 percent growth in quarterly profit.<br \/>Dixon Technologies added 1.8 percent after it agreed to acquire a 51 percent stake in Kunshan Q Tech Microelectronics.<\/p>\n<p>Biocon gained 1.1 percent as the U.S. drug regulator approved its key diabetes treatment drug. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Market Analysis<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><script type=\"text\/javascript\">\n        window.fbAsyncInit = function () {\n            FB.init({\n                status: true,\n                cookie: true,\n                xfbml: true\n            });\n        };\n        (function (d) {\n            var js, id = 'facebook-jssdk';
