Stocks are turning in a lackluster performance during trading on Monday, with the major averages moving in opposite directions after ending last Friday’s trading firmly in positive territory.

Currently, the Dow is up 249.74 points or 0.5 percent at 51,904.69, but the S&P 500 is down 7.00 points or 0.1 percent at 7,804.54 and the Nasdaq is down 107.39 points or 0.4 percent at 27,258.78.

The choppy trading on Wall Street comes as traders seem reluctant to make significant moves ahead of the release of key inflation data in the coming days.
