The Singapore stock market on Monday ended the two-day slide in which it had slipped almost 25 points or 0.5 percent in that span. The Straits Times Index now rests just above the 5,000-point plateau although it’s likely to open under water on Tuesday.

The global forecast for the Asian markets is soft thanks to recent developments in the Middle East. The European and U.S. markets were down and the Asian bourses are expected to follow suit.
