Early signs from the U.S. Futures Index suggest that Wall Street might open higher on Wednesday. Trading activity may remain somewhat subdued ahead of the release of chip giant Nvidia’s earnings after the close.
There are not much economic announcements today.
As of 8.15 am ET, the Dow futures were up 33.00 points, the S&P 500 futures were adding 5.50 points and the Nasdaq 100 futures were progressing 27.50 points.
The U.S. major averages finished Tuesday higher. The Nasdaq advanced 94.98 points or 0.4 percent to 21,544.27, the S&P 500 climbed 26.62 points or 0.4 percent to 6,465.94 and the Dow rose 135.60 points or 0.3 percent at 45,418.07.
On the economic front, the Energy Information Administration or EIA’s Petroleum Status report for the week will be issued at 10.30 am ET. In the prior week, the crude oil inventories were down 6.0 million barrels, while gasoline inventories were down 2.7 million barrels.
The Survey of Business Uncertainty for August will be published at 11.00 am ET. In the prior month, the sales growth were up 3.75 percent. Employment growth was up 4.16 percent in July.
Two-year Floating Rate Note or FRN auction will be held at 11.30 am ET and five-year Treasury Note auction will be held at 1.00 pm ET.

Asian markets finished mixed on Wednesday. China’s Shanghai Composite Index plunged 1.8 percent to finish trading at 3,800.35. The Hang Seng Index of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange slumped 1.3 percent from the previous close to finish trading at 25,201.76.
Japan’s Nikkei 225 Index was higher at the close. The Japanese benchmark Nikkei 225 Index rose 0.2 percent to close at 42,480.50.
Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 Index closed trading at 8,960.50, gaining 0.3 percent from the previous close.
The NZX 50 Index of the New Zealand Stock Exchange declined 0.7 percent to close trading at 12,861.84.
