U.S. Stocks Regain Ground After Early Plunge But Remain Sharply Lower

After moving sharply lower at the start of trading on Tuesday, stocks have regained some ground over the course of the session. The major averages have climbed well off their worst levels of the day, although the Nasdaq and S&P 500 remain firmly negative.

The tech-heavy Nasdaq is currently down 358.67 points or 1.4 percent at 25,807.94 after plunging by as much as 2.5 percent. The S&P 500 is also down 67.08 points or 0.9 percent at 7,405.71, while the narrower Dow is up 19.93 points or less than a tenth of a percent at 51,732.64.
